“connect your ideas” becomes “sense & connect your ideas”
Know-how of sensor technology meets wireless expertise: duotec and the Prettl Group will be collaborating on Industrial IoT solutions in future. Cutting-edge sensor technology from duotec combined with the innovative and future-oriented wireless solution from Wireless IoT Solutions (WIS) will provide customers with IoT devices from a single source.
Delighted about the cooperation, Willi Prettl, Managing Partner of the Prettl Group, emphasises that “duotec’s range of exciting technologies optimally complement the use cases of WIS customers.” “Our customers are increasingly demanding wireless solutions. We have found the best match for this demand with WIS. Our customers will be impressed by the team and their expertise,” adds Philipp Mirliauntas, Managing Director and CSO of duotec. Wireless solutions will be an integral part of any technology roadmap in the future. Connectivity is the basis of future business models.
The range of services offered by WIS includes the evaluation of wireless technologies as well as functional and technical product specifications, the creation of prototypes and the integration of wireless protocols into products and components. The focus is on wireless sensor networks for areas of application in smart homes, intelligently networked buildings and the IoT (Internet of Things). In addition to the company’s overall expertise in wireless technologies, WIS also offers a fully scalable narrowband (NB) IoT-based platform for fast and cost-effective networking of IoT solutions. The IoT devices from WIS will be manufactured in the duotec and Prettl Group manufacturing network.
Carsten Ellermeier, CEO of the Prettl Electronics Group, explains: “This joint venture shows how two leading EMS providers in Europe are tackling the topic of Industrial IoT as a team. Prettl Electronics and duotec are servicing different target industries. It means we can ensure that customers from a wide range of sectors and business areas receive innovative wireless solutions from a single source.”
With sites in Germany, Mexico and Switzerland, duotec offers EMS, E²MS (Electronics Engineering and Manufacturing Services) and ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) services worldwide in the core business areas of building automation and mobility. “With WIS, duotec advances its position and becomes an IoT turnkey provider,” he adds. “We now have the entire palette of software expertise from firmware to cloud system (frontend, backend) from a single source. The implemented NB IoT solutions can be perfectly scaled, allowing us to achieve a more flexible area of application,” says Arthur Rönisch, Managing Director and CIO of duotec. In turn, WIS expands its product portfolio through duotec’s expertise in optical pressure and force sensors, current sensors and temperature measurement. duotec also offers calorimetric flow sensor technology based on MEMS systems. The company’s profile is rounded off by position and distance detection based on diverse sensor technologies (capacitive, ultrasonic, inductive, magnetic).
Philipp Mirliauntas is the new Managing Director at Wireless IoT Solutions GmbH, and Lyn Matten, co-founder and technical head of WIS, will remain CTO.
